SLC Backflow Addition - Before

Got the job to winterize this clients sprinkler system, but ran into 2 very big problems. 1. We couldn't find the stop/waste valve to turn off the water to the system, and 2. There was no backflow preventer installed on the system at all--which is illegal. After a lot of digging and following pipes, we found the stop/waste valve buried 4 1/2' deep. So we had to extend the valve further away from the valve box to create new for the new Backflow Preventer we were going to install.

Sleeve and cap was installed to keep a channel open for future quick access to the stop/waste valve. Backflow Preventer was also installed. After testing the system, we began back-filling the hole, and hooked up our air compressor to the system to blow out the water from all the lines.

Cap to the stop/waste valve is now slightly above dirt level, backflow preventer is installed and operating, and the job site was cleaned up. Customer is very happy to finally have it done the right way.
